Community Giving

Community Giving

Swire's community giving initiatives reflect its core values, which envision a world that flourishes by building thriving communities. The Group’s community giving targets four main areas: the Swire Group Charitable Trust (Swire Trust), Community Relations, Scholarships, and the Taikoo Primary School.  These efforts are overseen by a Philanthropy Council, comprising senior leaders of the Swire Group.

The Swire motto, meaning “to be, and not to seem to be”, guides our philosophy on community giving. Our efforts are motivated by altruism: we act for the benefit of society and the greater good, and not as a means of self-promotion or virtue-signalling.

Swire Trust

The Swire Group Charitable Trust (Swire Trust) was established in 1983 as the philanthropic arm of Swire Pacific Limited. It is a Hong Kong charity registered under section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance. Swire Trust receives annual income from Swire Group companies in Hong Kong, based on a percentage of Swire Pacific Limited’s profits.

The Swire Trust is committed to driving long-term, systemic change that will directly benefit communities and the natural environment. It is focused on empowering people and protecting nature through educational advancement, marine conservation, fostering connections to the natural environment, and providing hardship support. The Trust also seeks to build social capital by supporting collaborative networks and strengthening NGO capacity.
