Taikoo Primary School was founded by Swire in 1923 to provide free education for the children of the Group’s workforce at Taikoo Dockyard and Taikoo Sugar Refinery. It became a government-subsidised public school in 1947, and in 1966, Swire donated land as well as paying half the construction costs for a new school building. In 2002, the school relocated to a new campus, made possible by a HK$150 million grant from the Swire Group. Swire remains involved in Taikoo Primary School’s governance to this day and provides a number of funding initiatives that enhance teaching and learning.
